Our focus is to stock quality brands that have reputations built on garment quality and styling ease as well as being ethically produced so you can build a wardrobe of lasting garments not fast fashion. Fast fashion is “inexpensive clothing produced rapidly by mass-market retailers in response to the latest trends”.
Fast Fashion via large global chains dominate the shopping malls and online world, leaving the small local retailer in a vulnerable position. We have many options outside of fast fashion and it’s possible to find stylish, affordable and ethical clothing, if you just know where to look.
Expedition Apparel
Like Expedition Apparel, another family business based in Melbourne, Australia for more than 50 years celebrating their 100th seasonal range release. Expedition focus on creating a good outfit for a fair price and this is reflected in their suiting range. In 2001 Expedition introduced its own brand ‘Boston Fine Tailoring’ and in 2006 became the Master Licensee for global fashion brand Daniel Hechter, all of these labels show case quality suits for all occasions.

What a “good” fit actually looks like
Jacket Length
Your suit jacket should cover about 80% of your butt and crotch, with the bottom edge of a jacket ending between the two knuckles on your thumb. This rule can be pushed a little bit when wearing a casual sport coat because they tend to be a little shorter.
Technically, the jacket length should be approximately half the height of the distance between the point that is the base of your neck and the distance down to the ground.
A Natural Fit
When you try on a suit you are looking for a good fit in your natural stance, that means standing up straight wearing the dress shoes that you will be wearing with your suit and having your arms relaxed at your sides.
Shoulders Are Important!
A good guide is that the shoulder lies flat, the seam on top of the shoulder should be the same length as your shoulder structure and should meet the sleeve of the suit right where your arm meets your shoulder. Shoulders are one of the hardest parts of a jacket to alter, so do not buy a jacket expecting a tailor to make the shoulder right with alterations.
An oversized jacket will cause bunching of the shoulders, with the top button fastened (never the bottom button) the jacket should lightly hug your middle section and should not feel tight or constricting. You do not want the jacket pulling at the button, this creates an X, meaning the jacket is too tight!
If its roomy around your waist/stomach area, but fitting perfectly on the shoulder you should have a tailor take in the sides so it fits properly, this is a very common and easy fix.
